6/16/2016

Minutes: 6/16/16 – Work Session

Board Members in attendance: Mike Ercole, Hank Earle, Laura Russo, Pat Ploeger
Salute to the Flag
Minutes:  6/2/16 pending
Lake Management:  The DEC has approved the application of Cutrine Plus.  The first treatment will be applied on June 22.  The DASNY carp gate grant is pending.
Parklands:  We are still looking for volunteers to clear the wood and cut down trees and vines for the walking path.   Pat will ask Gerry Doyle to put out the new recycling bins.  And we are working with the town to enforce the code regarding illegal parking on Lake Shore Dr.  Hank will look into using septic tank covers as bases for the trash barrels around the lake and either he or Gerry will pick one up to see if they serve the purpose of anchoring the barrels.
Boathouse Security:  Fire Commissioner David Raines has obtained a locked cabinet for the security system.  We will need to have it installed, most probably by Dennis Mays.
Swim Docks:  Now that the beaches are in order for the season, Hank will ask a representative from EZ Docks to come to the lake and take measurements.  The board will also want to see how the docks function on an actual site.
Swim Team Kickboards:  The kickboards need to be sanded and painted.  Pat will coordinate with Gerry to get this done by June 24th.
Basketball court: Pat will contact them and see where we stand on their donation of materials.
Softball League:  After several complaints from members of the community, the League was sent a letter emphasizing the section of Chapter 116 which prohibits alcohol on the parkland.
Fireworks: We are still working on the possibility of having Joe paddock them set off on July 3rd .
Electronic Bulletin Board: Pending
Cost of Handyman: Pending
Recreation:  Following a community request, Pat will order a volleyball net for games at the beach
Dumpster: The one at the ballfield needs to be locked as people are using it to dump all kinds of materials.  The dumpster is strictly for the use of the PLPD and the softball league.
National Night Out Block Party: Aug 2nd, rain date Aug 9. Start time 6 or 7 pm – (to be decided)
Music at the Beach:  Hank will follow up on getting bands to perform at Warren Beach once a month during the summer.  This will be an adult-only event for residents and their guests.  Wristbands will be required.

June 2 2016 work session

6/3/2016

Work Session:
Trash Barrels: will be put out on Saturday 6/4.  We need to get prices for concrete pads for the trash barrels.
Boathouse Security:  Pat reported the NYCONN security will supply a lockable cabinet for the NVR and monitor for $250.   The board requested that other prices be obtained.
Handyman Projects:   Kickboards need to be sanded, painted and installed by June 24th.  The ballfield benches need to be sanded, painted and repaired.  Hank prepared a list of projects which need to be prioritized.
Beach Security:  The board discussed locking the beaches at 9 PM and opening them at 6 AM.  A decision could not be reached so the issue was tabled for a later date.
Trash Removal:  Pat asked for volunteers to bring the beach trash out to the curb on Wednesday and Thursday nights until the lifeguards start working weekdays.   Laura and Lucinda  volunteered.
Basketball Court:  Pat reported that Jim Gagliardo has completed the drainage project . She also emailed the specs for the court to Peckham to see if they can provide  some of the materials.
Mowing:  All Seasons has been reminded to trim all of the grass on the ballfield playing area including the left field hill. Lacona and Parma should be weed whacked monthly per their contract.
Little League: Mike reported that the Patterson Little League would not be using Memorial Field this season.
Softball League: The Town has requested that the PLPD send the league commissioner a letter regarding adherence to Chapter 116-21.
Fireworks: We are waiting for a price and estimate from Joe Paddock.
Bands on the beach:  Hank has asked Scotty Cairney if he would perform on the beach some night during the summer.  Pat will firm up the date and fee.
Nature walk for kids – Lucinda will contact Cornell to organize these walks.
Movie night at the Beach: Marguerite will organize
Electronic bulletin board: pending
Handyman:  Pat will ask for the cost per hour for using the Town’s handyman.
Fishing Tournament:  Hank set the date of July 16th  for the tournament.
Geese: Pat will order a coyote for the beach to scare away the geese.
Boats on the Beaches:  Clear the boat storage area at Warren Beach, Interlaken, & Jackson - so people can launch kayaks and not use the beach
Maintenance Man:  The board discussed the need for a part time maintenance person to take care of minor chores   a board member would otherwise have to do, or would be costly for the town’s handyman to do.  Pat will make an application to the town to have Gerry Doyle rehired.

June 2 2016 public meeting

6/2/2016

Minutes: 6/2/16 - Public Session

Board Members in attendance: Mike Ercole, Hank Earle, Laura Russo, Pat Ploeger, Marguerite Shortt, Rich Filippelli and Lucinda Johnson
Pledge of Allegiance
Minutes: April 21, May 5, and May 19 2016 – Have all been approved
Parklands:  We are still looking for volunteers to clear the wood and cut down trees and vines for the proposed walking path.  Trash barrels  have been put around the parkland.  The PLPD is working with the town to enforce the section of Chap. 116 of the Town code that forbids overnight parking on the lake side of Lake Shore Dr. and other roads that abut the parkland.  Daytime parking is permitted only  for residents’ use of the beaches, lake and parkland.
Beaches: DOH inspection report was excellent with both beaches passing with flying colors.   The PLPD contracted out the sand placement and the weed removal on both beaches.   The repair and launching of the docks and walkouts were done by dedicated volunteers.  We hope that the DASNY grant comes through for next year so we can replace the ones we have with maintenance-free docks.
Basketball court: The grant that we applied to from Peckham Industries was denied, but we are hoping we can still get materials donated by them. The county installed a guardrail, and we had the drainage issues fixed with a new catch basin and piping that was supplied by the county.
Recreation: The PLPD is working on getting fireworks on the lake for July 4th.  Another event the board is considering is having live music once a month on Warren Beach.  These events will be for adults only.  Attendees should bring their own chairs, food and beverages.  A resident requested a volleyball net for the beach and offered to coordinate regular volleyball nights on the beach.
Swim Team: the 1st practice will start 6/27. We have 20 kids already signed up. Monique Lawlor will be the Swim Team Coordinator
National Night Out Block Party: Aug 2nd, rain date Aug 9. Start time 6 or 7 pm – (to be decided)
Newsletter:  Residents are starting to receive them and they have lots of compliments
