CSLAP
The Putnam Lake Park District has been accepted into The Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP) organized by the New York State Federation of Lake Associations (NYSFOLA) and the Department of Conservation (DEC). This is a lake monitoring program that will detail and benchmark the lake’s condition. With the help of specially trained volunteers, samples are taken from the lake each week and given to certified labs and professionals for evaluation. An end of year report card will be provided. As part of the DEC, the program aims to identify the lake problems and changes in water quality. This is an amazing opportunity as only 115 of the over 7500 lakes in New York (1.5%) are currently accepted. CSLAP is free to our lake district and will save the Park District over $45,000 in testing over the next few years and allow us to implement solutions and funding at a much faster pace. CSLAP results will be posted when we receive them from the DEC. |
