Minutes 11/5/15 Public Session
Board members in attendance: Rich Filippelli, Marguerite Shortt, Pat Ploeger, Hank Earle, Laura Russo, Mike Ercole
Pledge of Allegiance
Minutes: approved from Oct 1st and prior approved.
Grant/Carp/Carp Gate: We are almost there. Marguerite spoke to the DEC. The application looks good. It is in process. A public meeting will be scheduled before making the determination.
1st grant is for $50K for the carp gate and the 2nd grant is for an equipment grant for $50K for floating docks
Basketball court: Spring 2016 we can start getting it worked on. Next step to blacktop. We need help with donations to keep the cost down. Possibility of putting in Horseshoes, bocci etc…
Board member: we need 1 board member – no applications have been received yet at the town hall
Beaches and parklands:
Walking path: we started clearing Oct 4th – started at Interlaken and we are now at Lacona – working on Saturday’s for the past 6 weeks. Maybe one more day to finish clearing. Then we need to plan out the path. Possibly get a boy scout to work on a project of a small bridge over a stream. It was suggested that we do it around the entire lake, but we want to do it with volunteers to keep the costs down. We had a small group of volunteers, but need more people to help. Bow saw and snippers would help.
Rafts and walkouts: We are getting prices and hopefully the grant comes and we can use that money.
All boats must be removed by 12/1 – we will start posted notices. If we confiscate it is a $75 fee to get the boat back
Leaves: Can’t be dumped on parkland. No exceptions
Pete Andreano stated: The town is looking to acquire a spot for yard waste
A complaint came in for a request to lock the beaches at night because of disturbances at Warren Beach. The person needs to contact the neighborhood watch and call the police when the people are there. Get a plate number for the vehicles.
New business: The ballfield looks good but it would be nice for others to use it. It is not just for softball. We would like to have a flag football league for youths, little league, or any other sport. We need volunteers to start something. It is open for people to use. It was used for a tag sale.
Porto-sans are scheduled to be picked up.
Firehouse parade is Dec 5th. $100 donation. If anyone has ideas we will be happy to support a float.
