Oct 2 Public Meeting

10/16/2014

                                Minutes 10/2/14 Public Session

The meeting was called to order and the following board members were in attendance: Hank Earle; Mike Ercole, Patricia Ploeger, Rich Filippelli, Marguerite Shortt, Thomas Douglas and Laura Russo.

Pledge of allegiance to the flag

Minutes – next meeting

Old Business: lake management – Pat – spoke to Rich – What was the grant for? What was paid for already?
We are in step 2 of 3 of approval process for the grant

Weed mapping – Pat spoke to Chris and mappings are done – results are behind. Should be ready for Nov meeting – Rich will fill out the carp application – then we will vote – or should we get opinions from people that have carp first? But only talk to the chairperson of each group – maybe select 5 groups- once we get approved for carp then we can discuss the carp gate. No need for carp gate if we do not get carp

Dam – Bruce Major questioned the dam – maybe burdened financially on the town as a whole/PLPD as a whole.

Mike Griffin promised the PLPD will not be totally responsible for the financially burden when the district was being formed. Budget -$25k for a fluese(sp) gate. DEC budget is $300,000
There is a formula for the Dam – all good news.
Nothing is written in stone – town attorney is looking into it with the attorney general – The town should be responsible – if dam breaks everyone will have an issue.

Parkland signs are going to be put up. Town will put up 17 signs and bill us for them.

Softball is done. Need one umpire to put in his voucher. Port-a-potty pick up on the 15th.

Youth league – put out notes – get volunteers to run it and we will sponsor it

The ball field is available; tag sale/flea market, soccer league, lacrosse???

10/18 rain date 10/19 park land clean up – bring in the rafts, food after, supply garbage bags – see the flyer

Start projects: Hank & Pat – fences

Marguerite- Benches

Walking path – get help on how to do it

Rich F – ball field drainage – town can’t do it – have town engineer put an estimate together for drainage and walking path when the leaves are down

Basketball court – put back where it used to be in right field

Backstop at ball field to be fixed or replaced

Easy access beach- Tom D

 Other business: Halloween window painting

Neighborhood watch – Oct 27th at firehouse – Pete Dandreano - it has been doing well – good turn out each meeting – Deputy Schmitt is attending meeting and is glad to be on board
Traffic complaints – speeding cars, not stopping at stop signs

Public relations: anything to post; wedding announcements, births, tag sales –

Pat thanked Marguerite and Alisha E for the great art work at the bulletin board at the market

Winter list email list – to be worked on – mass emails BCC’d for updates

 New business:
Boat removals – Dec 1st – to remove or not to remove
PLPD float at the holiday parade – Tom has drawings and ideas.

Monroe’s are building a modular and when it is delivered the company thinks it can be stored on the property where it will be installed – if not, the VFW, Church parking lot – if it can’t be put on their property when dropped off

Neighborhood watch – what is it: Pete said it started in the spring, a group coming together to look out and be aware. Window stickers and signs are being ordered. We want people to pay attention of surroundings. This is positive not negative to real estate sales.

Clean up of vines and downed trees – to happen mid November after the leaves are down and ticks are less.
