Parkland and Beach Projects: Andrew Fetherston and Justin Dates from maser Consulting discussed proposed projects for the two active beaches, four passive beaches and the parklands, including erosion control, shoreline remediation, benches, swings, walking paths, etc. The suggested that we establish priorities, starting with a topographical map, plan it all out and then tackle each project as it is affordable and makes sense. They would be willing, for a fee, to meet with the PLPD for a site walk. They suggested doing shoreline remediation during a drawdown, and reminded the board that both the DEC and DEP would require permits for any work in the wetlands or on the shoreline.
After they left the meeting, the board discussed getting approval from the town for the process, working with volunteers, getting donations for the equipment and setting up a date to do the site walk. They also discussed terracing Lacona Beach for erosion control. Pat was asked to work with Dave Colucci on the small locust tree stumps on Lacona.
Trash Barrels: Ton was asked to get three comparative prices before placing the order.
Dog Clean-up Stations: The stations have arrived and Marguerite will mark the posts to hang them on.
Beaches: Hank said that the walk-outs need to have boards replaced. The Board of Health inspection is scheduled for May 21st.
