Board Members in attendance: Mike Ercole, Hank Earle, Laura Russo, Pat Ploeger, Marguerite Shortt, Lucinda Johnson, Rich Filippelli
Pledge of Allegiance
Minutes: April 7, 2016 - Approved
Lake Management: Goose egg oiling was completed by Hank and volunteers.
Carp Gate/DASNY Grant: We have approval for the carp and the carp gate – We are just waiting for the DASNY grant to pay for the gate. We have approval for up to 375 carp. They are sterile and since they are “vegetarian” will not accept bait.
Walking Path: Looking for volunteers that are willing to remove trees with permission from the Board
Trash Cans: Should be put out soon on the beaches and the parkland. Six trash receptacles will be put around the lake.
Boat House: The security system has been installed
Code enforcement: The PLPD is working with the Town of Patterson’s code enforcers to help remove illegal cars parked on the parkland. The law allows for parking during the day only while using the parklands and beaches. No overnight parking allowed.
Beaches: Weeds need to be removed from all of the water near the beaches. Bids have been sent out. We can’t get any volunteers we will have to pay for this service
Beach Sand: The Town Board approved DEH Asphalt & Paving to provide and spread 66 tons of beach sand at a cost not to exceed $3,575.
Docks: We need to repair some of them and we are looking to purchase new ones to replace our existing ones. The town applied for a $50,000 grant from DASNY to help pay for new docks.
Ballfield: The Town Board approved Duke Fence to replace the backstop and fencing at a cost not to exceed $8,800.
Basketball Court: We are in the process of installing one at the ball field. Putnam County extended the guardrail on Haviland Drive side of the ball field. We have to decide whether to use a swale down the south end of the field or a catchbasin and underdrain along Haviland Dr. to remove excess water coming onto the southwest corner.
Softball: The men’s softball league uses the field on Sunday’s from 10 am to 6pm. Other than the little league using it for some games or practice, it is available for everyone to use.
Swim Team: We are looking for someone to take over this position of Swim Team Coordinator. Hopefully someone will step up.
Water emergencies: Putnam Fire Department purchased a new boat. It can only be put in the water at Warren Beach and the lifeguards will have to clear the beach during the emergency
Tag Sale: Postponed to May 14th due to rainy forecast
Public Recognigition:
The question was asked about Doggie bags being used around the lake but it has been noticed that people are throwing the bags on the ground or up in trees: They are being used and should be disposed properly.
