Feb 19th Work Session

2/9/2015

Work Session

Members in attendance – Hank Earle, Pat Ploeger, Marguerite Shortt, Mike Ercole, Laura Russo, Tom Douglas

Guest: Shaun Rogan
Salute to the flag
Minutes:  pending

Old business:
Lake Management Plan- out of the 5 RFQ’s that were sent out - Only 1 quote came back
Pat has the entire report and plan
Board Vote for the Aquatic Vegetation Management – 6 board members in attendance – all in favor – yes

Budget – $65,000 for carp gate – estimated price if need. $10,000 has to stay in the account from the previous year’s budget which is 10% of the overall budget. The $65k is not locked into just the carp gate.

Firehouse/PLPD sign – approx $8500 - we will split the price 50/50. Fire department is okay with the sign. Once ordered 3-4 week delivered and set up. Make sure it has enough space for what we want to say before we finalize it.
Hydrant at Hudson Beach – pending the weather.

Meetings: Public to be held at Firehouse on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for $50 per session. Keep the work session at the church for the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Newsletter: It’s been decided and voted by majority of the board to move the public session to Firehouse 2nd Tuesday of the month. Work session to stay the 3rd Thursday at the church. Beach to close the 7th of September.
Tight deadline – to get the newsletter ready with the DEC letter to mail by 2/27/15.

Out of district members: We need to amend the bi-laws that we want to allow out of district members. Amount of members to be determined by the Park District Board

Ask the town to consider this and what do we need to make this happen?
Submit a recommendation when there is a meeting scheduled.
All board members present - approved
Grant: Still in process – not sure of the status
Town engineer/Town – pending – give it about a month to hear back and then we make a decision for our next step.

Ordered 400 boat stickers and ordered 1100 wristbands all red w/black.

Boat auction: Pick a date. April 25th – Saturday 10 am – inspection 11 am  - 12 noon - Auction at the Boat House
Tag Sale April 25th

Vines and Trees: Hank to get some prices – chip and or take away. What look do we want? Not cutting of good trees. Get rid of fallen trees, dead trees. But only cut a tree or prune it for the health of the tree. Wait until snow is gone

Pat P spoke to Ron Gainor to engineer the list of projects. We got the quote from him – Rich F needs to work the paperwork for the curtain drain. 3 quotes. Pat to send a formal letter to the Rich Williams/Town for pricing

Lawn maintenance – hire a maintenance person for the ball field and another maintenance person for our beaches to cut the grass.

Basketball court – send out a request with a date we need it back
We need an overall plan - Easy access – Tom is working on it

Shaun R. recommended that we not change the slope of the beach

Doggie Outdoor Pet Stations - Marguerite to plan where they need to go around the lake. Who is going to empty the receptacle during the off season?

Master plan: landscaping plan – overall information – Get prices and then approval. Start with a landscaping engineer. Shaun will get us a vendor so we can get an idea and then send out RFQ’s

Rafts: we need information and estimates from the vendor. Hank will give them a call and give the sizes and or re-deck the existing ones

Easter Egg Hunt – Sat 3/28 – rain date 3/29
Community clean up April 18th

Shaun Rogan proposed – Drowning recognition seminar - Teaching people how to tell when people are drowning. Hands on training to teach the life guards for all of Patterson and split the cost between the 2 districts. Dr Frank Pia to teach the class.

Life guard management class for the head life guards at the beach – what are life guards supposed to do? How do you check to see if they are doing what they are supposed to be doing? This is for Upper level supervisory staff – At least 12 people attend the class in person not an online class.

Goose eggs oiling – mid April
Scheduling the life guards
Next meeting PLPD – March 10th
Neighborhood Watch – March 9th
Next meeting: Discuss the option of hiring an adult to monitor the life guards
