A Successful Boat Removal Day!

11/18/2013

Thank you to all the volunteers who made the Boat Removal Assistance Day a success!

Several crews of volunteers came equipped with trucks and/or trailers to help community residents move their boats to their homes.  The turnout of volunteers and residents was amazing.  Nearly 40 boats were moved.  In addition, trailer loads of garbage were removed from boat storage areas and other areas of the parkland.

All remaining boat owners are reminded to remove their boats by December 1st.  Removal of the boats annually allows for parkland clearing and cleanup around boat storage areas, reduces the amount of abandoned boats that have been historically left on the parkland each year, removes chains annually to prevent choking of healthy trees and ensures only active boats return to the parkland in the spring.

Thanks to all those who helped!

AWESOME WINTER GATHERING

2/23/2013

Although the rain washed out the initial date, the following weekend made for a Great Winter Gathering!  It was terrific to see such an amazing community turnout.  Thanks to all those who came and to all those who helped make the event such a success.

We all look forward to more events that bring the community together!

A Very Successful Clean Up

12/4/2012

Close to 100 volunteers gave their time over the weekend of Dec. 1 to remove garbage and debris from the parkland. Piles and piles of garbage were collected. (Including 67 tires!) Brush and old driftwood was burned to help clean the shoreline and lake bed. Over 25 large trees that had fallen into the lake were removed! Throughout the weekend neighbors, adults and children pitched in to help clean. A great way to start the park district!

This effort has certainly beautified our parkland, but these work hours will also save the Park District money for future clean-up.

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

This Weekend December 1st & 2nd

10:00am – 4:00pm

Help the Putnam Lake Park District begin clean!

Please join neighbors and friends this weekend to help clean the parkland while the water is lowered. Help pick up garbage and brush along the shoreline, and throughout the parkland. Recycle your garbage bags and pick any spot on the parkland to clean. Or come to one of the designated beaches for garbage bags and organized efforts.

All garbage to be placed on the side of the road for later pick-up. Brush and logs can be placed on burn piles. Bonfires will keep you warm.  Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 4:00.

Saturday stations: Warren and Jackson.
Sunday stations:  Northward at Interlaken and Hudson.

Balloons will mark the way. Spend an hour or the day. Your help will make a BIG difference!
  • Wear boots and gloves
  • Pick your own spot or go to the designated beaches to begin
  • Recycle your own shopping bags or pick one up at a beach
  • Bring all garbage to the road
  • Place brush on burn piles
Let’s start the Putnam Lake Park District off clean. Your help now will beautify the lake and save the district time and money in the future.

Thank You Putnam Lake!
