Parkland Boat Clean Up

10/21/2013

More than 180 boat tags were issued this year to Putnam Lake residents.  Thanks to all those who acquired registration.

This year was successful for cleaning up the parkland of abandoned boats that have been around for years. Boats without registration were noticed with a sticker in early July and again in August.  Letters were sent to any owners who could be located from old PLCC records.  A few boats were even returned to owners who thought they were stolen.  Of the more than 80 unregistered boats that remained in early July, most were successfully tagged or returned to their rightful owners.  The remaining 24 untagged boats were removed in an effort to clean the parkland area for residents.  Most of the boats collected were clearly abandoned and unusable.

All boats are being held for 60 days in case owners can be found.  For more information, please feel free to contact the park district at info@putnamlakeparkdistrict.com
